Put Down that Coke and Sugar Pie

Jamie Oliver a few years ago started a campaign to get British schools on track with their school meals. He received a lot of resistance (more from adults than children) but his energy and love of food and respect for the kids is amazing. That, and helped because he’s on the telly, meant he’s been getting stuff done, getting more people to get behind his mission and our kids are starting to eat better.

I’ve just caught up with his American Food Revolution T.V. show.

What a mission, but he seems to be doing something there too. Corporate America with their mass-produced-highly-processed-convenience-food, has been corrupting our bodies on both sides of the pond. We’re weak to their glossy marketing campaigns and appeals to our laziness and weakening willpower. But now a Brit is fighting back, getting pizza out of the kids breakfasts, in the long-term the people out of the hospitals and putting good, tasty food on our plates.

Americans are telling him it can’t be done. It’s great to see a Brit showing them that it can.
